How do I cancel my mailbox account?

We regret that you would like to cancel your mailbox account. Perhaps we can still do something for you or at least improve our service for the future. Is there anything that could be improved in our support service, or do you have any other suggestions or requests? We would be happy to help you resolve any issues.

Automatic cancellation

It is not usually necessary to actively cancel your account, as you have a fixed contract term based on your deposit and the plan you have chosen. Once your contract term has expired and you do not actively renew the contract, it will be automatically terminated. This also applies to test accounts.

You can find the end date of the term in your current contract (All settings > Contract and payment > Contract).

Should you nevertheless wish to cancel, you can do so using our cancellation form.

Note

It is not possible to convert the remaining term into a cash value or to receive a refund.

Submit your cancellation via the cancellation form

You can cancel your contract directly via the cancellation form on our website. You can also access the form in mailbox Office via All settings > Contract and payment > Contract section.

Complete the cancellation form and confirm your details.

Please note that it may take a moment for us to process the cancellation and delete your account.

Changing the primary address

If you only would like to change your primary address, please do not cancel. Instead, simply create a new alias. You can then set this alias as your primary address and keep the account with all data and settings.

If you cancel your account, your primary address @mailbox.org and any aliases will remain blocked for at least 90 days – the blocking period depends on the plan and the age of the account. From that point on, you will no longer be able to log in with these email addresses – we also protect you from identity theft this way.

You can find more information about blocking periods in the article When is a deleted address available again?.
