WebDav for Windows
Those who use Microsoft Windows can access their mailbox.org Drive via WebDAV. You can also mount the mailbox.org drive as a network drive under Windows. For access via WebDAV you need the following login data:
WebDAV-credentials for remote access
- Server:
dav.mailbox.org
- Username:your main e-mail address at mailbox.org (not an alias)
- Password:your dmailbox.org password
- Network drive folder:
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/
You also need the last name and first name you entered in the mailbox.org settings. Depending on the server you are trying to connect to, the WebDAV-URL may vary. Find out more about the different options in the following paragraphs.
WebDAV URL - Academic Title, Special Characters, and Diacritical Marks
Academic Titles
If you have added an academic title in your personal contact details (Address Book | Contact Details) (e.g., Dr. Maxima Mustermann), you may need to include this in the WebDAV-URL to ensure proper synchronization. This is the case, for example, with Joplin.
Example
A valid WebDAV-URL for Dr. Maxima Mustermann looks like this:
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/Dr.%20Maxima%20Mustermann/
Note: %20 replaces (empty) space, which is not allowed in the URL.
Special Characters and Diacritical Marks
If your name contains special characters (ä,ü,ö,ß) or diacritical marks (ł), please use the following table for conversion:
https://www.utf8-chartable.de/unicode-utf8-table.pl?number=1024&htmlent=1
Example
A valid WebDAV-URL for Bartłomiej Mustermann looks like this:
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/Bartłomiej%20Mustermann/
Connect Windows Network Drive
Open Windows Explorer and right-click on "This PC". From the context menu, select the "Connect network drive" entry. A window appears where you can select the drive letter under which the new network drive with the drive connection should be displayed.
Under "Folder", add the address https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/First Name, Last Name
. The comma and the space between First Name and Last Name are necessary and must always be entered. First Name and Last Name are taken from the contact data of your main account at mailbox.org (in the settings in the mailbox.org portal).
Variants
Occasionally and depending on the use case, a different syntax for the URL may be necessary, for example if programs can't handle the the space character (Here it often helps to try %20 instead of the space character). The following is a list of spelling variations:
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/First Name Last name
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/First Name, Last name
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/Last Name,%20First Name/
For Enpass users:
https://dav.mailbox.org/servlet/webdav.infostore/Userstore/Last Name First Name/ENPASS
Now check the box "Reconnect at login" and click on "Finish".
Windows now creates entries in Windows Explorer under "This PC" and links the selected network folder here as a network drive. When you open it, you will be asked for your mailbox.org account and your user password. If everything worked, the explorer now shows the content of your Drive.
