📄️ Can I trust the staff at mailbox.org
This is an extremely valid question because if you are unable to encrypt everything you send or receive, the operator of your mail server may soon know more about you than your doctor, your lawyer, and your accountant combined. Under About Us, you can find a detailed personal description of us as well as information about our history and our reasons for operating mailbox.org. Read this section and think about whether you can – or would like to – place your trust in us. And we ask you to encrypt your communication whenever possible. The fact of the matter is: We at mailbox.org do not even want to be able to read your e-mails.

📄️ What are the differences between mailbox.org for business and mailbox.org for private users?

📄️ Where are the servers located
The mailbox.org servers are located at two separate locations in Berlin. We have secure physical access to each of these locations. Our Internet lines follow different routing paths and are owned by different providers. High capacity, large data volumes, short routing paths: When selecting our locations, the most important criterion, apart from ensuring that the given locations fall under German jurisdiction, was the quality, not the price. This means that biometric access controls, power supply with multiple physical redundancy, cooling systems, and continuous system monitoring are integral to the international standards upheld in our data centers.
📄️ Where to find the settings in mailbox.org
Since June 2020 the "settings" button in the online office of mailbox.org was moved. You can now find it when you are logged in at mailbox.org and click on the cogwheel symbol in the upper right corner. It is located between the help and the avatar button (the circle with your initials).
📄️ Which data do we store and for how long
Here at mailbox.org, data privacy is something we take very seriously. Still, even at mailbox.org, there is some customer data that we need to capture and store in order to guarantee seamless server operation, and with it, top security for your data. We also need to be able to show you that our systems are working as intended and that we are fulfilling our services to you as agreed.
📄️ Which PGP standards are supported
E-mail encryption with mailbox.org Guard is 100% compatible with the OpenPGP Standard.
