Where can I find the PIN for external users?

Note

This article refers to accounts with activated mailbox Guard.

When you send an encrypted message to someone who does not have a mailbox account and for whom you have not stored a public key in the key management, a temporary mailbox at mailbox will automatically be created for that person. This ensures secure communication. This mailbox can also be protected with a one-time PIN, since the access link itself is transmitted unencrypted. You should therefore provide the PIN to the recipient via a secure side channel (e.g., phone, SMS, or in person).

Important

Save the one-time PIN before sending the email. Without this PIN, the recipient cannot access the temporary mailbox. In the current interface, the PIN can no longer be viewed after sending. Unlike before, there is no longer a function such as “Check assigned PIN.” The PIN is also not permanently stored in the source text.

Please note: Temporary mailboxes are automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
