Answers for private customers

The Knowledge Base for private customers is already largely up to date. A few individual articles are currently being revised and will be updated shortly. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to providing you with the latest information on using mailbox.

Please note: The Knowledge Base has changed slightly. Categories have been adjusted and any URLs stored in the old Knowledge Base are no longer valid.

Use your own domain with Catch-All

If you use your own domain for e-mails at mailbox, you are also free to use a so-called catch-all. With such a ‘catch-all’ you simply receive all e-mails from this domain, even those for which no e-mail address or no special alias has been created. A special catch-all alias is used for this purpose.

More spam, but also more convenience

Although such settings can also lead to more spam, there are various use cases where catch-all aliases are helpful. If this feature is activated, you can, for example, give friends or sellers on the Internet an individual e-mail address, such as ‘onlineshop23@example.com’. From now on, you can also sort these addresses using filter rules without having to create an alias. You can also easily see which provider has passed on your address illegally.

How do I set up a catch-all alias?

Catch-all aliases for multiple users

In this case, only one of the users can use the catch-all alias: If several users share the same domain, the mailbox mail server will first take over the delivery of all email addresses and aliases created in mailboxes. Only then does our system transfer all remaining emails that could not be specifically assigned to the catch-all mailbox, i.e. the account defined for the catch-all alias.
