Should I forward virus warnings

The answer to this question is simple – No

Again and again, large-scale warnings about alleged viruses circulate. And time and again, gullible users fall for them and forward these warnings to hundreds of their mail contacts.

Experts call these warnings “hoaxes” (in English roughly meaning a prank or joke). This term refers to virus warnings that are widely circulated as email chain letters and typically contain messages like the following:

Virus “WOBBLER” arrives via email with the subject “CALIFORNIA

IBM and AOL have announced that this virus is practically “deadly,” worse than the MELISSA virus.
The “WOBBLER” virus deletes all data stored on your hard drive and destroys Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Under no circumstances should you open any email with this subject!

Please forward this information to all friends, colleagues, etc. who use email. So far, very few people know about this virus, so please inform everyone else as quickly as possible.

Please do not forward virus warnings!
Often, a quick look at the Hoax list from the Technical University of Berlin can help. Most of these “joke warnings” are already listed and debunked there.
